This lack of access has been historically true of some countries in Southeast Asia. While Vietnam has made fast progress in improving its water supply, many parts of the country – especially remote communities – have been left behind.
The lack of access to water, along with poor sanitation, leaves locals exposed to pneumonia and parasitic infections. Children are especially vulnerable.
Watts Water Technologies is stepping up to fix this problem on the ground. Recently, it worked with locals in the Da Nhim Commune in Lam Dong, Vietnam to install a fully integrated water system into one of its schools.
Watts joined with the Planet Water Foundation to erect a special water filtration system at Da Nhim Primary School, providing the children and their families with access to clean drinking water and handwashing facilities.
The company also installed an AquaSan mobile surface disinfection system to help promote good water hygiene in the school’s latrines. This has allowed the children to learn in a safe, enriching environment.
On top of this, Watts funded a water health and hygiene education program for more than 600 of the students, so they could learn about the water hygiene process first hand.
It might not be too surprising to learn that Joseph Watts founded Massachussetts-based Watts Water Technologies in 1874 with safety in mind. At the time of founding, it was common for water boilers in textile mills to explode. He introduced a simple solution: a pressure relief valve.
Today, the company has grown into a global leader of quality water solutions for residential, industrial, municipal, and commercial settings. Safety is still front and centre of everything the company does.
