Sustainable Food & Biodiversity
Fund Vision
Sustainable Food and Biodiversity (C5KF) invests in companies that are transforming how our food is grown, the packaging our food is stored in and how it's disposed of. This fund aims to preserve the Earth’s biodiversity by tackling the global threat of food insecurity and the environmental impact of increased food production.
Fund goal: Protect and restore ecosystems and biodiversity through sustainable production techniques and technologies.
Investment Case
The global population is estimated to increase by 2 billion people to 10 billion by 2050 (UN). Without a calculated increase of 60% in food production rates today, many of those people will go hungry. The companies in this fund have technologies and techniques that are set to become key pillars in the production of the world’s food supply.
- $500bn of additional global GDP could be generated by the digitalisation of the agriculture sector by 2030.
- Plant-based protein is projected to reach $17.4bn by 2027, at a CAGR of 7.3%.
- 32% increase in global demand for forest products by 2035.
Impact Case
This fund tackles both the shortage in food supply and preserving biodiversity by investing in some of the most innovative companies in this space - from vertical farming to plant-based proteins, precision agriculture and forest management. If executed properly, we may even be able to restore our natural habitats and create an environment in which biodiversity can flourish in harmony with humanity. The funds in the new portfolio provide access to more investment areas and countries than previous funds on the CIRCA5000 platform.
